can you use cat flea powder on pet rats?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

One of my pet rats has fleas right now. He’s had them before and I gave him a bath, which got rid of them, but this time I was wondering if it would be safe for him to use flea powder made for cats rather than giving him another bath? He actually really liked baths when he was younger but now they freak him out :/ and I don’t want to put him through it again if at all possible.

We have tried many pet store pet products for the cat and many of the house powders, sprays and bombs nothing seems to be helping. Almost every other day she gets a bath with flea shampoo and brushed out for a good hour with a flea comb then the bathroom is sprayed down and sealed off to kill fleas that might have escaped death. Nothing really seems to be getting rid of these suckers…and suggestions on the most efficient way to rid the house and our cat of these buggers.

First Time Cat Fleas! Help!?

Posted by: admin | Comments (11)

My poor kitties have fleas. Hubby and I bought a spray for the furniture, carpet, pretty much an all-purpose spray everything type spray. I have given them a flea bath and combed them. I also put a flea collar on them, but I still found live fleas. So this morning I gave them a second bath, combed and still found some live ones… two of them jumped on me and I freaked out, I put new flea collars on them, threw my clothes away and took the hottest shower I could stand lol.

But I’m so frustrated… what I do to rid them of this problem once and for all? What am I doing wrong? What will help me if they jump on me again, or what will keep them from jumping on me??
Also, my vac is a bagless?? So I’ve been dumping it outside, but is that good enough? I typcially vac every day, sometimes twice a day.

So VA, no can do on burning the comforter, have u priced them lately? Ours was expensive,,

Cat, eight years old, never had fleas before, and always use Frontline at irregular intervals with him. Now, both me and my mother are VERY itchy and have some unknown bites- could this be fleas, and how could I tell if he has them? I also work in a pet shop, so it could be bites from other fleas/mites, but I haven’t been there since Thursday, so…
I don’t THINK he does has them…he hasn’t been scratching anymore and I haven’t seen any on him or in the house, but I have been bitten for sure, and my mum may have been.
We use Frontline less then regularly, but I may put it on him just to be sure.

Yes, I have bites, but it may be from work and I’ve also been bitten by things before that haven’t been fleas, which is kind of weird.

My cat is 10 months old and was brought to me by my moms friend. My cat’s mom was an indoor/outdoor cat and so my cat was brought to me with fleas. I have been having this problem for a while and I wish that it could end, other than the baking soda any more advice would help. My cat is long haired too so that makes it even harder to spot them. HELP. (I have tried Advantage and it did not work)
