good idea, but you still might get them. get the flea shampoo and use it on yourself and the cat for a while.

You won’t “get” fleas, but they will bite you.
if your cat has fleas you can get bit by them too. they will infest your house and beds in a matter of a few weeks. flea collars do not work. best thing is to get a flea medication from a veterinarian, and some medicated flea shampoo. if your cat has had fleas for some time you might want to think about getting a flea spray for the areas where your cat sleeps, any areas where it plays, and around its litter box.
you need to nip this problem in the bud now….the last thing you want is INFESTATION use a flea powder on your cat and be careful not to overdo it you can poison your cat..if you treat it before it gets out of hand you should be fine..
